Why are some articles on "Answering Islam" Anonymous?
Some articles on this web site are anonymous, or written under pseudonyms.
There are various reasons for this.
- Whoever voices critique of Muhammad is an enemy of Islam,
and thus deserves the death penalty. We have plenty of death
threats. Those are not all empty threats, some of us have
already had attempts on their lives. We do not think it to
be wise to give radical Muslims ready targets by supplying
our real names or even addresses.
- Some of our articles are written by converts from Islam.
Even without writing anything critical, just the fact that they
have left Islam draws the death
penalty for apostasy according to Islamic law. But these
brothers and sisters live particularly dangerously, if they go
public with their testimony or any of their thoughts relevant
to Christianity and Islam. Their identity needs to be protected.
Some students writing essays or research papers about Islam
are asking us, "How to quote anonymous articles?"
Either leave out the author name altogether, just give the
title and exact web page address of the article you are
quoting from, or if you feel you need to write something
in place of the author, then write "Anonymous" or "N. N."
(non nominatum = not named).
Nevertheless, here is some information
about us as team, although not about individual persons.
