Answering Islam - A Christian-Muslim dialog

  • Jesus, the Son of God

The Bible describes true believers as God's children and people bent on evil as the Devil's children. Adam is said to be “son of God” and Jesus is “the one and only Son of God.” Such familial descriptions have given rise to many discussions and debates especially between Christians and Muslims. Why does Scripture say Adam was the “son of God” in Luke 3:38? Obviously because he was made in the image and likeness of God. Interestingly, Muslim hadith acknowledges that Adam was made in God's image as cited in The Study Qur'an, a major work compiled by an international team of highly respected Muslim scholars. They freely admit this was originally taught in the Bible in Genesis 1:27.
  • Solomon and Jesus: Eternity & Immortality

Solomon noted that wise people think much about death but foolish folk frequent parties in search of frivolous fun. He also observed that, “God has planted eternity in the human heart, yet even so people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end. … A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume and the day you die is better than the day you are born.” Sixteen centuries later Muhammad discussed the hereafter with his companions and freely admitted “I know not what will be done with me or with you.” (Surah 49:6) Jesus Christ had a different outlook, claiming that God “granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life. ... Now this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” In fact, close to the end of his earthly life, Jesus demonstrated his authority to give eternal life. He spoke reassuring words to a contrite criminal who was dying on the cross next to him, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
  • Real Islam

What is “real Islam?” How can it be defined? Many Muslims are wonderful, honest, moral people. They are good neighbors and friends. Other Muslims are violent, hateful, bigoted, and sometimes terrorists. Both sides claim to be practicing real Islam. Real Islam cannot be both peaceful and violent. Water mixed with poison is still poison. Will the real Islam please stand up? How can we identify real Islam?
  • Islamophobia and Fuller Theological Seminary

Christians are taught to wear the “full armor of God” because we battle evil spiritual forces that seek to defeat the work of Christ. Weak and deficient Christians however allow these forces of the world to pollute their mind and heart. Once polluted, they even aid the enemy against fellow Christians. In 2019 the word “Islamophobia” is becoming less prominent because more people are seeing it used as a canard to silence critics of Islam, but sadly there are still polluted Christians using this term. A couple of years ago Fuller Theological Seminary facilitated these attacks against Christians.
